Kimié Miner
School: Kamehameha Schools - Kapālama
Career: Musician | Entrepreneur, Founder of Haku Collective
Kimié Miner is a Grammy-nominated producer, singer-songwriter and recording artist. However performing in front of thousands did not come easily. A self-proclaimed shy girl in high school, Kimié would only sing her songs in front of family and close friends.
While attending in San Dieo, one of her friends introduced her to reggae star Barrington Levy. In that moment, Kimié had two options—stay quiet or break out of her comfort zone and sing.
Choosing to be vulnerable, Kimié sang for Barrington and at 19 years old, she embarked on her first west coast American tour along the reggae musician.
+ Kimié's advice to aspiring artists
Know who you are and your authentic voice. Learn how to use that to connect with whoever. Don't worry about connecting with every single person on the planet. That's never going to happen. All you need to know is who's your audience and how do you connect with them. Make that genuine connection and don't worry about anything else. You'll be surprised at how many amazing things will happen once you become vulnerable and let yourself step out of fear.
